Reduced Course Load

Harvard College students unable to manage a full-time course load due to significant and prolonged disability-related needs may qualify to take a reduced number of courses each semester. Once approved, the accommodation will apply to all remaining semesters. Students should discuss their academic progress with Resident Deans and instructors when considering a reduced course load. Students must communicate with DAO if their disability changes in a way that impacts their accommodation.

Students should request this accommodation as early as possible. Reduced course load accommodations requested and approved after the Fifth Monday will not be implemented until the following semester. This accommodation is not retroactive, and students cannot apply it to courses that they decide to drop or withdraw from prior to approval.
