Grievance Policy

All requests for accommodations through the Disability Access Office (DAO) are considered on an individualized basis, with determinations made first at the local level by professional staff who conduct an interactive process with the students. Should you not agree with the determinations made by us, the following grievance procedures should be followed:

  1. We will provide you with a written notice of why a requested accommodation was not approved.
  1. We may offer alternative accommodations for you to consider.
  1. Should you wish to have your original request reconsidered, you should provide a written explanation and request for reconsideration from DAO senior leadership.
  1. To the extent relevant, we may request additional clinical documentation, and/or consultation with university officials who can further inform the determination.
  1. A member of DAO senior leadership will meet with you to learn more about your request. We will share our decision in writing to you following this meeting.
  1. If the above does not produce agreement, you may appeal in writing to University Disability Resources, who has responsibility for ensuring that the University’s policies and procedures comply with Federal, State and University requirements. Please see the UDR Grievance Process.
